Crowned Great British Menu’s – Champion of Champions 2025
Amber Francis is an award-winning British chef, Born and raised in the Bristol countryside, farming and nature is in her blood.
Known for her innovative approach to food awarded her the champion of champion in 2025 series of Great British Menu.
2015 – Amber’s culinary journey began at The Ritz London, where she developed strong classical techniques. Working under the watchful eye of John Willimas, Amber started as apprentice, quickly working her way up the culinary ladder, spending 1 year in pastry on the quintessentially British and well renowned afternoon tea at The Ritz.
Amber was invited by Thomas Keller to experience the kitchens at The French Laundry and Bouchon Bistro refining her skills in fine dining.
2018 The Dairy and Bermondsey Larder under chef Robin Gill, inspired Amber to follow her heart, by working with growers, farmers, producers to create the recipes from the weekly delivery, that remain close to her heart today.
2022 – Amber became Head Chef at The Zebra Riding Club in Hertfordshire, showcasing both her leadership and culinary creativity.
In the same year she was named Young Chef of the Year at the British Restaurant Awards as well as competing for the first time in the Great British Menu, solidifying her place as a rising star in the industry.
Amber has since taken the bold move to working within communities and education, becoming Head Chef and Senior Food Educator at Christ’s College Finchley in North London. There, she has redefined the way that the school looks at food, championing nutritious, balanced meals and teaching students the value of cooking from scratch, using food as a tool for empowerment and well-being.
Her mission today is to transform perceptions of school meals and working within communities.
In 2025 her dedication to meaningful food experiences brought her back to the Great British Menu, representing the South West region. Her menu, which predominantly paid tribute to iconic British educators, reflected both her culinary passion and her commitment to shaping young minds. It was her dessert, inspired by philanthropic teacher Hannah More, that secured her place in the Banquet and ultimately led to her being crowned “Champion of Champions”.
Outside of the kitchen, Amber is active in community food projects and serves as an Ambassador for Chefs in Schools, Kellys Cause and volunteers with Food Behind Bars, proving that her impact goes well beyond the plate.

“Francis is truly passionate about this. You might see her on TV and assume that her school work is a vanity project, but she’s there five days a week from 7am to accept deliveries and ensure the 700-plus students a day have freshly cooked meals using the best possible ingredients.”
