As a disabled chef, Ronnie Murray is an avid campaigner for getting more people with disabilities in the hospitality sphere. He has worked with SCOPE for years and adopts a ‘tough love’ approach when it comes to disabled individuals, believing firmly in getting them as involved in daily life as any other individual.
Ronnie’s culinary career started at the tender age of 16 at the Great Fosters Hotel in Egham. He took the role of Head Pastry Chef at J Sheekey for Caprice Group at just 22 and then went on to open the iconic Mayfair restaurant Scott’s.
After over 20 successful years in the restaurant business, Ronnie made the move to set out on his own in 2016 and thus, Peckham Manor was born where he consulted for a number of establishments including 45 Jermyn St, Fortnum and Mason’s, Farmacy, Joe Allen and Vagabond wines as well as hosting supper clubs in his Peckham home.
Ronnie has also appeared in several TV shows including ITV’s Cooking With The Stars, James Martin’s Saturday Morning, Great British Menu, Sunday Brunch, and Million Pound Menu.
He is committed to training other young disabled people in the kitchen.
Another one of Ronnie’s passions is sustainability: he is focused on limiting food waste wherever possible, utilising all ingredients and growing his own produce at home.
